About Richard

Richard Convery, hailing from Belmont, New South Wales, Australia, has a captivating story. With a background in the disability support industry, Richard dedicated years to helping those suffering from back and neck pain, which he now considers his initial mission field. In the 1990s, he operated a successful remedial therapy clinic, connecting deeply with his patients due to his experience with a painful spinal abnormality. Despite being told by doctors that he would live a life confined to a wheelchair, Richard defied that prognosis and has been sharing his incredible recovery journey ever since — even indulging in thrilling activities like riding a jet ski to this day!

As Richard worked with pain sufferers, writing became essential to his vocation. He authored the highly acclaimed book, “Back for Life: How to Dramatically Reduce Your Back Pain Without Pills, Equipment, or Money,” which resonated with countless individuals seeking relief. Following its success, Richard published a sequel titled “My Necks Book.” Both books gained significant recognition and were featured on prime-time national TV across four networks in Australia, as well as in New Zealand and New Guinea, with Richard generously offering them to viewers for free. Richard’s travels have taken him across Europe, Africa, the UK, the USA, New Zealand, and India, where he witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by Dalit children, igniting the seed for his novel, “Untouchable.”

In 1985, Richard, who once claimed no interest in finding God, had a life-changing encounter at his grandmother’s deathbed. Since then, he has served on the missions board for “The Tent of Promise” and “Promise Faith Center,” leading people to salvation in 18 African countries. Currently residing in Queensland, Australia, Richard continues to write, seeking divine guidance daily by asking, “What do you want me to write, Lord?” until he receives an answer. This unwavering dedication ensures that his upcoming projects, including the Crossroads trilogy—a compelling work of fiction in production—and “Thoughts for Today,” an inspiring faith-based picture, will continue to touch hearts and minds.

Untouchable: From Beatings To Broadway

In India, five-year-old Naggya witnesses the brutal murder of his mother. Running for his life, he miraculously finds his Aunty before he starves in the streets or falls prey to the depraved. But even then, Aunty is sick and dying, and cannot afford to feed him.

An even graver strike against little Naggya—he is a Dalit, from the lowest, most despised caste in India, viewed as less than human and deemed contaminated … untouchable. A figure of scorn and contempt, the orphan is destined for a life of persecution and servitude.

But Naggya’s luck turns when he is spotted by the head of a special Christian school for Dalit children and orphans, Son-Shine. Here, the boy finds a home, food, shelter, mentors, and a special best friend with his own amazing dreams. As his teenage years approach and his extraordinary dance talent is revealed, Naggya draws close to a host family from New York City, financial backers of the Son-Shine school, who recognize his immense gift and help him unlock his amazing destiny–a journey to the pinnacle of the world of professional ballet. Follow as he dances through the twists and turns of adolescence, friendships, betrayal, excruciating physical exertion, faith, and ultimately, a chance to redeem his Dalit brothers and sisters back home.

A testament to God’s unfailing love and presence and the strength it lends the human spirit, Untouchable is a story that will carry readers on a journey, touch their hearts, lift their gazes, and help them see that unfathomable dreams are possible … no matter how great the odds.
